Everyone is born with the freedom of choice but sooner or later the choices we make end up putting us in bondage. Thankfully, Christ offers freedom from the oppression of our decisions. Jesus himself said, “When the Son sets you free you are free indeed!” This freedom doesn’t just bring freedom “from” (sin, bondage, the past, etc..) but also freedom “to” (love, serve, give, etc…). You are free to serve…what are you using your freedom for?

CONVICTION—Standing for what is right even when others don’t!

Over 2,000 years ago, Jesus came to Earth and He lived a perfect life. When the right thing meant forgiving someone who had done wrong, Jesus did it. I would imagine it wasn’t always easy for Jesus to do the right thing, and I know it wasn’t always popular. But Jesus never let the crowd persuade Him to go against His Father’s will. Even when it meant going to the cross to die, Jesus knew that it was the right thing, and He did it.

Jesus was able to live with conviction because He knew the will of His father, and that gave Him strength and courage. You see, when we are fueled by the character of God, we can stand up for the things that matter to God. It’s important to keep doing what God has asked us to do because God’s way is the best way and by doing the right thing, you are pleasing your God who loves you.

Stop and think about someone you really admire.

Are you thinking of someone? Whether that person is a teacher, coach, friend or family member, he or she is valuable to you. You recognize that this person is important because what they do impacts your life. But did you know that everyone is valuable? That’s right. Your boss, your mailman, your babysitter and your neighbor—they are all valuable.

Every person has value, not because of what they do, but because each and every person has been put together by God. When God created people, He made them in His image. That means every person alive today has been put together in the likeness of God. So every person has value. And it’s our job to help everyone feel like they are valuable.

Honor is letting others know you see how valuable they really are!

OVERDRIVE: Solutions For High Performance.

Sometimes it seems like the only way to keep up with all the demands on our lives is to run at maximum capacity, and then some. But there is another way…one where we have room to breathe and space to respond to what life brings our way. This series could change the quality of your life! It’s for people whose schedules are too full and whose checking accounts are too empty! It’s for those who know what it’s like to run so close to the edge of moral boundaries where moral meltdown is ever near. Overdrive is one of our society’s uncontrolled epidemics, but finding ‘margin’ is the cure. This is for those who have felt exhausted, stressed, anxious and fatigued too much of the time. If you’d like to trade-in fatigue, red ink, hurry and anxiety for a new model of energy, black ink, peace, and security, come explore what it means to leave Overdrive, and live with Margin.

On Sunday, February 26th, Mountain Valley will be hosting it’s first Big Serving Day. On that morning we will have only one gathering at 10:30am. During this time we will provide an opportunity for families to worship, fellowship and serve together. We will have both local and global agencies on site that we will be helping in real, physical, and tangible ways. Three great ministries will be served: Heart to Heart International (hearttoheart.org), Phoenix Rescue Mission (phoenixrescuemission.org), and Africa Hope Center (africahopecenter.org). Imagine your family putting together care kits for people in crisis, packing lunches for the needy here in Phoenix and writing post cards to orphans in Africa. We will also be hosting a free lunch on site afterwards. It’ll be a day unlike any other at MVC so don’t miss it.

Items we need donated…

• Hand towels (1,000)
• Wash cloths (1,000)
• Wide-tooth combs (1,000)
• Travel size bottles of shampoo (1,000)
• Individually wrapped toothbrushes (1,000)
• Small tubes of toothpaste (1,000)
