Application Makes the Difference

There are countless Apps for our smart phones, iPads and other electronic devices. Some are important; some are fun. But if you don’t use them, they are worthless. Knowing about exercise and diet are also useless, if we don’t apply what we know. So what good is it to know the Bible if we don’t apply it to our lives and behavior.

Hello everyone and welcome to the Small Group home page!

At this point in time, we are in the process of building out our small group ministry. There will be frequent updates on this web page so keep checking back for current activities.

Today, I am requesting information to better identify our inventory of small groups that are currently meeting. So, to that end, if you are currently in a small group, please respond with the name(s) of the current leaders, as well as the members of the small group and their phone numbers. You can either email me the information at ken@mountainvalleychurch.com or by calling the church office at 602.531.5432.

This summer we’re offering 3 different summer camps for our students. Whether you have a High School, Jr. High, or 4th-5th Grade student, we have an opportunity for them to get plugged in. Registration is already underway and forms are available at Guest Services in the lobby. Don’t miss these great opportunities!

Courageous

The idea of courage is often viewed through the lens of movies, sports, leadership and biographies of great people. It can become easy to think that courage belongs to just the very brave and adventurous person. But every day life calls for all of us to live courageously. We live in a constantly changing culture. Raising a family, nurturing a relationship, confronting ominous circumstances – all call for us to be courageous in the midst of a messy world. Hear from those who have discovered courage in less than ideal conditions.

Vacation Bible eXperience

For kids going into Grades K-6th

This summer we are following the life of Peter and learning how he plugged into God’s power.

Each day, your child will learn about one of the principles of Peter’s life. We focus on one main principle, or Bottom Line, each day. We’ll be exploring how Peter followed Jesus, and even though he didn’t always get it right, Jesus chose him to build the church on. By the end of the week, we want the stories of Peter to have a lasting impact on your child’s life: Calling of Peter (Luke 5:1-11), Peter Walks on Water (Matthew 14:22-34), Peter is the Rock (Matthew 16:13-28), Peter’s Restoration (Mark 14:66-72, Luke 22:54-62), and Peter and Cornelius (Acts 10).

Jesus didn’t call us to be Christians! He called us to be followers and fishers of men (Matthew 4:19). What does it mean to follow Him? What does it mean to be a ‘fisher of men?’ Is it really necessary? What does that look like? What do effective fishers do?

Free to Serve

Everyone is born with the freedom of choice but sooner or later the choices we make end up putting us in bondage. Thankfully, Christ offers freedom from the oppression of our decisions. Jesus himself said, “When the Son sets you free you are free indeed!” This freedom doesn’t just bring freedom “from” (sin, bondage, the past, etc..) but also freedom “to” (love, serve, give, etc…). You are free to serve…what are you using your freedom for?
